Why You Need A Blog Today

Why you need a blog for your business

If you use social media for your business, you’ve probably wondered where you should spend the majority of your social media time. Twitter? Facebook? Pinterest?

The answer is simple, none of them. You need to stop spending hours out of your week on the likes of Twitter and Facebook. Instead spend most of your time doing one thing, developing content. In a short time, you will start to understand that when you create quality content, by which I mean blog posts and videos, etc. you will find social media will start to fall into place.

Whatever content you’re creating, it will almost certainly be posted in a format a blog uses. Here are some of the reasons to start a blog for your business

Why You Need A Blog For Your Business

You may think using Facebook etc. you can build your business, but what you may not realise, you don’t own your content. Facebook can close you down at any time. If you have a Blog, you own its content. Facebook employs students to check your content and close accounts. Their view isn’t questioned. Do you want your total business being closed by an 18-year-old part-time student, with no or little in the way to argue it?

Become a Brand

One of the reasons why you need a blog is blogging is a great way to establish yourself as a leader in your field, which leads on to become a brand. Writing posts about what issues you and your business have,  allows you to position yourself as an expert. Put yourself in the shoes of people within your industry. Whatever kind of product or service you’re working in, you want to work with the most experienced and knowledgeable people, right? That’s how you want potential leads and customers to see you when they visit your blog.

By being yourself, you have a lot of knowledge and expertise to share. You may have been to meetings, conferences or read a good book. Do you have an opinion about an issue people struggle with? Did you solve a tricky problem? Can you think of some frequently asked questions? There are so many ways to get great material for blog posts!

Juice up your SEO

One of the reasons why you need a blog is search engines love new content. If you are creating regularly updated content that uses your SEO keywords and is correctly optimized for search, you can boost your ranking much better than you could with a site that just has static content on it.

It will take some time if you are starting from scratch, but stick with it! Simply put, blogging is power. You get to boost your SEO ranking, and you’re creating original content that belongs to you, not Facebook.

Content powers social

When you start creating content of your own, you share it on social media. You’re providing value to your viewers of your blog. That’s one of the reasons why you need a blog. It tops the things you can do to gain a high quality following on social media sites.

You know your business inside and out, and that means that you have expertise and knowledge to add to the conversation. It’s just a matter of writing down your thoughts (or record a video) and sharing it. When you create your own content, you have built-in material for sharing on social media, and when people like and share your content, that means that your site gets more clicks.  A blog is the one of the easiest, cheapest and most effective ways to start creating your own viral content.
